We are living in unprecedented times, with many facets of life being affected. However, just because a pandemic has changed our normal day-to-day, that doesn’t mean daily inconveniences and accidents no longer happen. Individuals are still getting injured in accidents caused by the negligence of others. Some injured victims may be wondering how COVID-19 will impact the steps they need to take towards filing a personal injury claim.
Like many events due to COVID-19, April’s Distracted Driving Awareness month has been postponed by the National Safety Council. However, people are still out on the roads traveling to their essential jobs and other necessary functions. Here at Williams DeLoatche, P.C. we feel that distracted driving awareness should be observed not just in April, but every day and especially during this pandemic.
Rachel Autenreith, Williams DeLoatche, P.C.'s Paralegal & Marketing Specialist, organized efforts in Chesapeake to assist children who rely on school-funded meals during the coronavirus closure. What started out as a simple Facebook post over the weekend, turned into over $2,000 in donations that were used to purchase food items for 232 area children. We are very proud of Rachel's grassroots effort. Williams DeLoatche was also happy to provide the reusable bags to transport the donated food to the students and our office area was used as the distribution point.
