The entire Williams DeLoatche team actively participates in several local charities throughout the year. We strongly believe in giving back to the community in which we live and serve. Here are a few of the organizations we support:
Since 1950, the Sertoma Club of Norfolk has strived to be a valuable member of the Hampton Roads community. They are a dedicated group of professionals with a common goal of helping people through local charities and organizations, with a focus on supporting speech and hearing impaired individuals, providers and causes. Over the years, the Sertoma Club has raised more than $1,100,000 for those causes. Our own, T. Wayne Williams, is currently the President of the Norfolk Sertoma Club.
Attorney Wayne Williams is a proud member of the Sertoma Club of Norfolk. Last month he helped to present a check to EVMS for $150,000 to establish the Sertoma Club of Norfolk Temporal Bone Laboratory. It was the largest gift the Norfolk club has ever made to a nonprofit organization.
Williams DeLoatche, PC is an active participant with the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. Every September we show our support on Hunger Action Day to help raise awareness for the Food Bank and Feeding America organizations.
A recent study by Feeding America found that over 1 million Virginians are considered “food insecure.” This represents nearly a 54% increase since 2006. A large number of these individuals are children, senior citizens, disabled adults, and the new face of hunger—individuals who have lost their jobs, are unemployed or underemployed, and are having problems making ends meet. In fact, Virginia’s food banks continue to experience record demand for services. In 2013 alone, the food banks of Virginia have distributed almost 137 million pounds of food and grocery products. In response to this urgent need, the Office of the Attorney General, The Young Lawyers Division of The Virginia Bar Association, and the Federation of Virginia Food Banks joined efforts in 2007 to create the Statewide Legal Food Frenzy—a food and fund drive competition among all Virginia law firms and organizations.
Williams DeLoatche was proud to sponsor the 25th Annual Rock and Roll Up Your Sleeve Blood Drive, hosted by FM99 (WNOR) July 19 through July 21 2012. The event was an overwhelming success collecting 948 units of blood for the American Red Cross, which will supply life-saving blood products for over one thousand people.
